This setup is going to be tested again with an engine with a lot more power, liners etc .+ lighter shell . It's all RnD fun without the massive $$$$ and worry that box is gonna split in two.

#1 It seems like the Audi gearbox can be made to work. But how much power can it handle? I mean the guy running it was trapping 118mph. That means its not making alot of power. This is exactly why i would like to get some more info on the setup before really considering it because there are still a lot of unknowns. Knowing the what tranny and getting the necessary gear specs is the first step....
#2 The EVO trans is a good alternative. There transfer case is strong, but the gear sets are just as weak. Remember alot of these engineers built these factory transmissions for only slightly more than what factory pushes out. Alot of the big name racers, guaranteed are running aftermarket gearsets.
Design for specs.....nothing else
Our Pulsar is running a PPG helical dog set. Not PAR. We know of another person that is running the PAR gearset and they have had the same problem. Its these hard AWD launches and power that are ruining these things. Only testing, r/d, and racing will we ever find a solution to these issues.
I do not plan on going all out on my pulsar, just a simple disco and a front mount and call it a day, but considering weather to go standalone or not....i am only looking for around 350awhp that is it........i will leave the high hp application for the NX as that is what its currently built for....

The gtir trans all around is weak, weak case, weak gears and so on. At least with the evo trans you get a much much stronger case, still stronger gears and then much more options and cheaper options for gears. There are many many full weight 9 second evos running those times on stock trannies. With a set of aftermarket gears they are consistent 9's with relatively no worries in the trans. Just everything else in the drivetrain at that point such as axles and rear diff.
John Sheppard has done great things with the evo trans as well as AMS and several others. But again it would take some serious work to make it work.

ash, yea, that sounds like an option, but tons of work, and frankly wouldn't we have to turn the engine the other way with that evo trans? redo turbo exhaust, dp, ic piping, redo wiring loom, all mounts, but hey, those coolant lines under the intake will be very easy to change....finally.... basically at that point, why not just use an evo engine to go with it?

To refresh it a bit, this tread seems very interesting to me!
So my big question is...if we would change to a EVO, audi or
a VW AWD stronger transmission, should the rear differential
also have to been changed with the, for example, EVO transmission,
or can we keep the stock rear diff??

i dont know what the gear ratio of the center diff of the evo is. It would need to match the center diff's ratio. That is the key. So if they dont which im gonna say right off the bat that they probably dont, you would need to swap out diff's. An evo diff should be fairly easy to bolt up as it uses a pretty similar layout. Again its all going to be custom either way so expect it.
