Thread: Alternative AWD Transmission

Just curious if anyone has done any research on mating an alternative awd transmission to the gti-r engine that will with stand high hp/abuse & even more cost effective for parts then the oem transmission.

I'll probably look into a evo 4 tranny just because my brother has one laying around so I can easily take measurements etc... from it.

I have seen GTiR's running the EVO box with an adapter plate. I have also seen a GTiR sell in ether Canada or the UK running audi 6 speed with the haldex 4x4 which is also found in the 'r32' VW Golf

You can buy Par 'dog' boxs for them and i have seen other gear sets made for the GTiR but I can't seem to remember the names.

I can post more information about it when i get home to my main PC.

Par gear sets huh? Like the one the mazworx gtir grenaded at 800whp smh waste of money

I know there's gear sets and bracing out there but it can be way more cost effective to run a different transmission where parts are more relatively available and affordable.

Huh?? Isn't the PAR gearset only rated to circa 450-500hp at which point the gearbox casing itself becomes to weak point??

If so, for you to comment that it's a waste of money that supports slicks and drag launching seems to be a little harsh, don't you think??

P.S> I thought the mazworx car uses the PPG 1-4 dogset?? If so your comment here is not exactly warranted..............

Send Ashton a PM real quick. He has mentioned a few times about the EVO box in a GTIR (or maybe he was referring to the 6 spd........Shoot him a pm anyways. He may know a thing or 2)

1) The dyno puts no where near the load a full on drag slick launch would
2) From my understanding, Ashton only got 3 runs. 1st bogged hard. 2nd launched hard. 3rd, broke (supposed) oil pump

Yes, although Ashton has been saying the 6spd box uses the evo gears, in my eyes, nothing has been proven as of yet. It supported "ONE" (1) full on drag launch and that's it.

Not knocking the gearbox, but I am man that believes in facts.......And the verdict (in my eyes) is still somewhat out.

Regardless, this thread foucs has nothing to do with a fwd box, so I am arguing a moot point anywho...................
