so is this really acurate? i just picked up a gtir motor...i was under the impression it was good for 400-500 hp, stock block, but damn, 600? just wondering, ive got a big turbo setup im putting in my car along with the gtir, my goals HAD been 450 on a stock de, then i found the gtir det. so im wondering realistically, is 500 something that can be done with the stock bottom end? i know the gtir is supposed to have the storgest factory internals of all the sr20 motors.....i just wanted to hear it from other people.

Yah, 500 WHP on a stock GTi-R motor, no problem.

I think ur only issue with 500hp is traction...I plan on running 400 on my gt2871R setup and i doubt it will be able to keep traction.. Its gonna be one hell of a street car.

$hit its going to be a hell of a car period!

I had a gtir powered se-r with a apexi headgasket, ARP headstuds, and a gt2871r(never got it running correctly and it ended up spitting a rod out the front of the block) .
I was hoping to one day grab a gt35r or holset, sidewinder manifold with a 44mm external gate, and make 500+, but things just didn't work out for me, so I wish the best of luck to all you guys running these awesome motors and just make sure you double check everything, so you don't end up blowing up your motor an being bitter like I still am:o

wow! well, good to hear that, that was my impression on the bottome end being tough, but its nice to hear from others. ill be putting up my build here pretty soon.....had the motor running tonight, on ether......ran silky smooth, started first crank, was funny as hell. got it out tonight. time to put on all my big turbo setup....maybe ill upgrade to a gt35 now myself, try to step it up. i would like to make 500 hp.....want to take down some honda fanboys.

the gt35R is nice after 4k, but before it there is a real boring quiet calm feeling that initiates a BLAST OFF i am thinking of goin back to the t-28 but rebuilt with a 360 thrust bearing kit. then seeing what that can do.
but on the other hand i never tuned the gt35r and was running it with a stock tune. i will decide when i fully tune it, dyno it, and drag it. then i'll be happy with the numbers and then i'll down grade for fun quick spulling monster that it is.

on and on the bearings again, yea after i rebuilt the motor and upgaded everything but the bottom end(i rebuilt it with all new parts thou) after 4months of beating the piss out of it, yes i gave it a beating, it, like i said, spun a bearing again, but that was my fault for putting factory main and rod bearings in it, i should have used acl bearings
