B14 1.6 to SR20 ?'s...
I've been searching this forum for years... I've searched and searched, and frankly I'm sick of searching and reading for hours, and hours, and countless hours through garbage ass posts, peoples misinformation and opinions, and otherwise useless information in a seemingly vague attempt to find what I'm looking for. So I'll ask my questions here...

When going from a ga16de with no tach to ANY sr20, will the 2.0L cluster with tach plug in and all the guages work? Will a 200sx SE-R cluster function as it should by plugging it into a 96 GXE no-tach guage cluster harness? Do I need to get the dash harness?

I'm putting an SR20VE into my b14. For a b14 do you use a de dizzy or rewire the VE dizzy? I've read both... I've read that you have to rewire the dizzy for the b14, and in the same thread that you should use the de dizzy... Conflicting info... Which is it?

I know I need an sr20 engine/tranny harness and ecu, motor mounts, tranny and axles, and the USDM sensors.

What else?

Clutch cable, correct? Will b13 work?

Throttle cable, correct? Will b13 work? I'm assuming so for both of these, but I want to be sure before I buy them, which will most likely be tomorrow.

Since I won't be using a Calum ECU for this right away, I know about getting a switch for the cams.

All of the information that anybody provides me will be greatly appreciated, and I will be doing a detailed and informative write-up based on what I do. I do quality cleen work, that I'm sure you can all appreciate.

Thanks in advance,

Lance

ok first of all which motor are you going to use. in your post you said you wanted to use a VE dizzy?? huh??

as far as i know since you have a b14 everything is obdII which means that all you have to worry about is getting the right dizzy ecu and harness which all should between 95 and 97 b14, 200sx ser models (i think after 97 or 98 they redid somethings) if anything you can get the motor out of any 91-94 Ser and just change the dizzy. matter of fact i have a obdII dizzy... existing throttle cables and clutch cables will work. or should i say should work

i did the same thing on my 94 sentra and i used a lowport obdII motor. my car was obviously a obdI all i changed was the dizzy from the motor and that was about it. i belive i also changed the coolant sensor. other then that the throttle cables worked. i changed my car from auto to 5 speed and as far as i read the 1.6 clutch cable is suppose to be an upgrade for us...

oh, my bad. I'm putting an SR20VE into my B14 GXE. That's why I was asking about the distributor.

Depending on how the engine is setup determines which throttle cable you will need. If it's a lowport, get a B14 throttle cable, if it's a highport get a b13 cable (not 94 though). Unless you can get the 1.6 cable to work, but I doubt it will fit right.

And how can you say searched this forum for years. Last time I checked it hasn't been around for that long...

Iv done ve's in a B13. I thought it was gonna be alittle complicated by the way ppl made it sound.....its a cake walk man. B14's might be diffrent but it cant be hard.

Things to get:
-B14 200sx se-r wiring harness (as someone said)
-Use the sr20DE dizzy...you will have to cut the bottom piece off where the bolt goes into.
-clutch cable will work...I mean you are gonna be using a sr tranny anyways...nothings moving.
-As for throttle cable...we shortened it to fit (on B13) IF you have to modify/route diffrently...its not hard and nothing to worry about.
-As for switches MSD 8969 jegs.com
Proberly a couple more odds and ends Im not saying. (its 5am)

What ECU are you gonna be running? If your gonna run a stock ECU with DE injectors and MAF in the VE...I wouldnt even put it in until you have the computer. There will be no reason to run the VE like that.(I read where you said "Since Im not getting the Calum ECU") It is the BEST bang for the buck...so Id go with it.

As for the cluster I couldnt really tell you since Iv never owned a B14 and had to try it. Im sure someone knows and will chime in though.

I did the same thing though man...searched to see how hard it was and got mixed answers and opinions. It made me think it was alittle difficult to do a VE swap. We finally did it and it was easy. Its a 1 day job if you ask me...maybe a weekend if your car feels like being a pain in the arse. Goodluck...

The B14 GXE cluster has different pin outs than the B14 SER. You will have to modify the harness or get a SER dash harness. The dash harness will plug in with no issues even on 4 doors.
