well thats not 100% true, if the distributor was bad like the CAS, when the distributor rotated the spark wouldnt be getting to the coil, also the injectors wouldnt click resulting in a fuel injector problem. also the fuel pump wouldnt come on either.
one way to test this is to remove the distributor, rotate the shaft and see if you hear the fuel pump come on, the injectors click, and see id you are getting any spark from rotating the shaft, both at plugs and coil.
