A Little Tech Tid Bit On Starting Your Project Motors
For all you guys doing motors swaps. Before starting your motors I recommend getting a bottle of Marvels Mystery Oil. This stuff is very good for motors that have been sitting for a while.

I recommend pooring 5 onces in each cylinder. This stuff will lubricate the rings so no dry start up. It will clean off the cylinder walls if there is any light rust. It will free up the rings if they are stuck which generally will cause a miss fire due to low compression and in some cases a no start if all the rings are stuck.

The procedure is to take out all spark plugs. Poor in Marvels Mystery oil. Turn over motor by hand a few revolutions to get oil on cylinder walls. Do this with sparks plugs out. Then let oil sit on pistons for the night. If there is any remaining oil, turn over the motor with starter. This must be done with spark plugs out, also please put a large towel over the spark holes to catch watever remaining oil might be left. Do this for 5 sec. Once done put motor back together and you are ready to go.

good stuff miko, on the motors ive done that i know have been sitting for a while i usually take some oil and do the same thing you listed. The motors ive gotten from soko have all been pretty good, i usually just crank it over with the starter with no fuel for 15 seconds to prime the oil pump and get oil flowing through the motor then plug everything back in and start it up and it fires right up first try every time and runs very smooth, the motor im putting in now i will do this same thing, its been sitting for a little while which i got from soko as well but just as a precuationary thing

Marvels Mystery Oil can be found at most auto parts stores. Great stuff.

Great tip!

Now Marvels Mystery Oil did do some bad to my engine last year. After using it, I did get more oil consumption from the engine.

But thats probably because it dissolved some old/cracked gaskets and or carbon build up on the piston rings thus leaking oil into cylinders.

So the moral of that story is, if you use it in your crankcase and your engine is high mileaged or pretty old, then you might see some leaks.

You are giving away our secrets

J/K this is somthing we always did when I was back in FL before we did any motor swaps. From time to time I still drop in a cap full when I do my oil changes.

Great tip. I wish I would have read this before I started my motor that has been sitting for a year.
