Project Car Tuner #8
Anyone pick this magazine up? I got it for the SE-R coverage, and I kinda wish I didn't. These guys really don't know SE-Rs

Yeah. I got it. Did you read the readers letters section? Someone told them that they could have done a better job on the first SE-R and suggested that they consider a smaller lighter 15" wheel instead of a heavy 17" wheel.

They pretty much disregarded what he said and they said that they are gonna put 17" rims on this boosted car. I wonder if whoever sent in that letter is from one of the forums?

Yeah I did. They basically said they could not find a 15" rim wide enough to hold all the tire they are gonna need. I guess the 15x8 Kosei K1s I had last year were in my imagination. "Its a racecar and we aren't cutting corners. Now check out these Rotas".

I started out thinking I'd write them a nice letter of encouragement but it reads like a chronicle of errors. I gave up.

Do they even have a bluebird motor? I thought only Avenirs came with the compressor clocked down. And for that matter why don't they have an Avenir?

That's the same mag that did the red SE-R a while back, they didn't even fix the bumper correctly, they slapped a stillen front on a bent up bumper. not to mention some other nonsense mods, I think if anyone from the forums were given that money we would make it go waaaay further than they did.

I have all 8 issues of this magazine. It is a step by step DIY for tuners and car enthusiast. I love this magazine alot.

Anyone who want to know how to do a DET swap should pick up this magazine

I liked the step by step instructions on installing the LSD though. When they did the motor swap write up, they used all of the sensors from the DET except for the TPS. I can see it now..... temp gauge reading hot and them running around in circles trying to figure out why the motor is "overheating"

I just don't think they have any common sense.

Here's two more:

Buy a $600 intercooler and then cheap out with a $90 eBay S13 downpipe that they had to chop and weld.

Run a Spec stage 3 unsprung 3 puck clutch. Worst company besides JGY for SR20 clutches. Its still on the T25. Way overkill. That's a good way to pop your tranny.

This too. The knock sensor is a pita. even with the motor out. Their race car has no gauges? Are they aware the old motor probably has S3 or S4 cams if it puts down 155hp?
