Not if he kept the harness and just made them longer for tucking purposes.

Yea, I'm strongly against hacking the harness. If there's a connector I don't use, I tuck it back and tape it up. You never know if you're going to need it again.

I'm comfortable enough with wiring to de-pin connectors and remove the wiring and clips that I don't need.

I also have had to do a wire-tuck on a honda, which was my biggest electrical project that REALLY built my confidence. It's all pretty easy when you realize that most of the wiring can be consolidated into one neat loom.

ehhh.... hacking the harness is wack. That's the first thing I check for in a shell. Keep it intact.

I bet if you look at my harness you wouldnt even know is was "hacked". If you do the job right it is not hacked but just eliminated the options i do not need. If its your car do what you want. Cleaning the harness makes my car mine and something i wanted to do to clean things up.

Yeah, depinning connectors and removing the wiring isn't hacked. Cutting the connectors off and taping the wires up is hacked. I just wish I had the money/time/patience to do it on my Vdub...

There's seriously like 120lbs of wiring in that car...

I would never touch a harness in a VW. They have way too many issues on their own.

re-creating it is actually the best way to get rid of the gremlins...

it just might take a few months to get everything to work...
