Oh there's a place on that track notorious for wrecking cars. Its the turn that leads to the main straight. If you go wide just stay wide into the grass and ride it out. IF you try to save it and bring the car back in the road it might lead you to the concrete wall on the right side.

I've never heard of it, and I've been around since the first convention. People run off in the grass all the time.

If you're a novice and scared of it...don't worry, you'll probably drive a lot slower than you think you will. Plus for the novice run group, instructors will ride with you for most of the day, unless you get their permission to drive solo, after getting better.

And what I mean by getting better is track etiquette, self-discipline, practicing lines, listening...

"Balls out" is not a status that can be taken by a novice on a track, I don't care how well you do in Gran Turismo blah blah...

There has been one out on the west coast. Couple high powered cars came together. It wasnt pretty for sure. But thats like 1 out of over 10 years of conventions.

The thing is, its a track day, not a race. You are to go out and drive and have fun. If you start acting like an idiot you will be pulled off the track. Unsafe driving will not be tolerated. Im a big guy....and I will pull someone out of their car for endangering the lives and property of others . Just a promise .

Its not a big worry. The biggest worry is driving over your head. Go out, have fun, let people pass you its not a race. And if you over cook it into a corner, slow down for a few corners and think about what you are doing. Then come in and ask for an instructor to show you the line.

This is about having fun. Sure dont go 5mph...but if you go above your car or your skill level...it will not be fun either. We will do our best to make you have a safe, fun, time

And don't worry, every lap will feel more comfortable than the last. The main thing to worry about is the laundry list of things you will want to do to your car after the track day.

For the track newbs. Like another member said. YOu get better the more laps you get under your belt. Also it is very important to be humble out there. Things can go wrong real fast. If you drive above your skill level, a lot of things can happen. You wreck your car then you spill stuff on the track. This then makes the track charge you crazy cash for clean up, also you ruin the session for everybody else. So because of driving above your skill you have a group of pissed off guys and on top of that you wrecked your car. What I just wrote is if your lucky. The worst it can get out there is death so just keep that in mind. Just because your car is capable of being fast does not mean that automatically makes you fast.

My advice for first timers is. Listen to your instructors. Take it slow the first couple of sessions. The first thing that you need to master is the layout of the track and where the corner stations are at. After that you can work on your technique and then after that you can go ahead and pick up the pace. The standard thing with the beginner groups is to have designated passing zones. So in order to pass a slower car you will have to wait for the passing zone and then only pass with a point by.

If you guys are thinking of attending , go ahead and get your car ready for the track now. You need to make sure it will not leak oil, leak coolant, over heat , leak brake fluid. A suspension check to make sure everything is working as it should and won't break. If you guys hit up the nasa southeast website you can download the tech forms they use. Just a general check list for you guys to look over so you can get an idea of what is important to check.

The following link has a lot of good info regarding the track. Including in car videos so you guys can learn the line before you even get there.
Roebling Road Raceway - Trackpedia

The track is pretty flat. It is a fast track though as most of it is gigantic semi circles, so you don't really have too many heavy brake zones. It is a fun track though I think the new guys will like it. Also the track has a decibel limit. Last time I was there it was 103 db. So if some of you have un muffled exhaust you might wanna check how high your db's are and try to fix it before you hit the track. I know when I've been there with NASA guys get a warning if it continues their day is done with. You don't want to pay for the day and not get to finish it.

How do you check the db level?

Depends on if I can run exhaust cutout open (not sure the db level) or closed cutout (well below any db limit).
