There will be a convention in Savannah come March, it will be privately funded for now. If SERCA wants to be involved, we will welcome them. I believe a new direction for conventions is needed anyways. We are pursuing some corporate sponsorship, and we are looking at some fund raising ideas. The key in my opinion is attendence, if enough people come money will not be lost.

AND we will be calling it the SR20 National Convention, because that's what it really is. No forum, no dash, just SR20.

When I pull this off I will run for president in 2012.

It would be nice to see a complete cost of the events being held like track event and maybe park event. Then we can hold an open fund raising to meet the budget. So by the time we get there we know everything is paid off and there is no strain on anyones back.

I am sure that there are many people who want to race out on the track and so on. These are the people who could pay up front for all the stuff they want to do.

Lets say you get 20 people out on the track and they put up say $125. Thats already $2500.

Lets say General admission to the event will be $50 and say we get 40 people to pay that thats another $800.

Anyway you guys get the point.

I know an open forum like this would bring the people out and also the funds would come pooring in.

I am sure you could get 10 people from Miami to come and I know of 6 people that would come and they would give up $100 a man for the event just to be there.

Anyway just talking..............

Those would be my 5 that would pay up off the back and show their faces. I am sure there are alot more people from S FL who would do this.

Very much along the lines I am thinking. I will have more specific ideas of cost after tomorrow. Gloria and I are taking a road trip to Savannah for the day. We are going to the track to get all of the paperwork and our contract. We also are visiting 3 hotels to see where we can get the best deal, and 2 state parks to nail down a site for the picnic. I also hope to get some catering info for the picnic.
