Thread: Slim Fans

Vadim, I just got one of those in the mail. I believe Swiss has them, looks like they fit perfect in 10" just tied to the radiator.

Sweet, I'll be getting some then. Too bad the 10" only have little less then 1300 cfm while 12" are 1600 cfm hehe.

What about putting them on the outside, would they have issues with the intercooler?


BTW Swiss, did you have any problems with the AC line being so close to the Jpipe?

I looked at push mounting the fans when I still had AC in my other car, but I couldn't get it to work. I think you would need 10" fans to do that because the AC lines and hood latch support get in the way:



With your setup, you should still have plenty of room for puller fans. I'd leave them be. You'd loose a lot of effectiveness using smaller fans pushing through the condenser.

As for the AC line, I don't think the j-pipe is an issue, but the manifold heat shield burned through the rubber part. I had to replace it. I used tin foil and some hose clamps to make a really thick "sheath" for the new one.

Hey swiss how did you wire up your slim fans? Cause the factory plug as 4 wires and the fans have 2

You have to use a relay. Both my cars that have slim fans were wired by the previous owner, so I don't know the details, but I'm sure it's on the old forum somewhere. I did get some new fans and re-wire the white car when I got it, but I kept the same connections, just rerouted everything, regrounded it, and used some Toyota harnesses. Here's what it looked like before:
