One tip is to not use rtv. I use felpro gaskets so its easier to clean and you don't worry about smearing the sealant and causing a leak.

Yes they are the biggest pain in the you know what ! I suggest if you have the funds get a mazerrie electric pump . Absolute no cavitation and no need for turbo timer cool down sessions .

If you are still having problems with overheating a bit at the track go with the nismo thermostat. I am running a turbo set up with a stock radiator, stock water pump, nismo t stat and some water wetter. No over heating problems so far.

I went ahead and did this myself. Definitely not a fun job. I've learned my lesson. Anytime I install a motor into these b13s I will reseal or replace the water pump before I put the motor into the car. You definitely need the ability to move the engine up and down. I ended up removing the axle, crank pulley, power steering pump, and motor mount bracket to get enough space to work.

I was replacing the passenger axle and front crank oil seal so that is why the crank pulley and axle were out of the way. My power steering pump is gutted so its not a big deal to unbolt it. A few of the things I ended up doing would not be practical for other guys.

There should be a forum merit badge for this job, lol.

Unfortunately I didn't change the water pump before putting my JDM in. I've spotted a coolant leak and it looks to be coming from the water pump area. I haven't even started the motor yet and it decided it wanted to start leaking, lol.

Also how did you guys go about removing the old sealant? Just seems like there is very little room to get a good angle to get that mounting surface nice and clean.
