rev limter at 2500 rpm crazy
ok quick thing. i got a 1991 sentra ser from an (manual) auction the car is lowerd and has a catback and hks intake. it runs and drives but here is the crazy part. the erev limiter hits a 2,500 rpm. its almost like it has an msd 2 step but it doesnt the ignition system is 100% stock. i know thE rev limit is in the computer so i was thinking if i put power and ground directly to the coil that it might fix the problem.

Sounds like you got a bad MAF sensor my friend.

funny you say that cous i noticed teh wires going to the mass air sensor were a bit chewed up. also i didnt hear much pitch in the engne when i pulled the plug off and on. but why would the ecu cut the spark at 2,500 i dont see the link in the 2?
also thank you for the response

im kind of a noob but heck ill try to do what i can to help out....its possibly not letting it pass 2500 rpm due to the fact that the ecu(brains) does not know what kind of air flow it is getting to produce the correct mixture needed with fuel and air .i could be wrong but thats what i would guess

maf sensor, thats the only thing that will cause that, if your ecu lost the signal from it it will go into limp mode which means no rev past 2500, check your wires buddy, thats all

could be either bad wiring to the maf or the maf plug is loose. /\/\/\ Ashton is right about the limp mode. If the computer doesnt see any maf signal then it goes into limp mode and the limiter is set at ~2500 rpm. Do you have the little spring clip that holds the plug onto the maf? Mine was missing for a while and that was my problem, the plug kept loosening its way out.

well what happen is whoever had teh car messed with the wires to the mass air sensor so there kinda like cut and rerouted. anyone have a diagram of the maf wires? also thank you for the help everyone.
