3rd tps unit...not a charm..im stumped
K..here is another thing that has me stumped..I read the whole thing on the tps sensor on sr20forum so i know im not doing nothing wrong.OK 1st tps i set it at .45 closed but open 4.5v on the forum it says that its bad and anything over 4.05 open is bad..changed it 2nd used tps but this one was a different i couldnt set anything over .50v closed and open it went to 4.3v.

since I saw it was "bad" as well, I bought a new tps sensor.

Before i installed the new sensor i checked the voltage going to the sensor which was 5V which was good..

ok I set the sensor to .45 closed BUT i still can't get it passed .50v since its all the way adjusted..now open is 4.3v on the new sensor..

This is what is concerning me is that i read if the tps shows voltage more the 4.05 the ecu will pull timing and act weird..So being that siad i check the Voltage while i was pressing the gas pedal inside the car and its .47 closed and 4.3v open..then i notice behind the pedal it appears that there was maybe 2 screws or bracket that won't allow the pedel to fully hit the floor(1991 sentra se-r)so that instead of show 4.3v the brackets will hold it back so while flooring the tps won't go beyond 4v or higher...does this make any sense?

I just don't want to lose any power when i floor it and if im .75 away from flooring it ..ill make more power since it would be at 4v instead of 4.3open.

My u13 is not bogging only when its cold but not alot very slight..and normal operating temps it picks up like butter....any ideas on this?

Uhm, actually it is fine to have the base voltage anywhere from 0.45 - 0.55 V according to the FSM, so you are actually at the far low end. And I don't remember what the WOT reading was supposed to be, but I thought it was supposed to be 5.0 V or something. Someone else will have to chime in as I do not have FSM ATM.

Per FSM:
Fully closed throttle = 0.45 - 0.55 V
Fully open throttle = "Approx. 4.0 V"

There is a screw by the throttle cable, that stops the throttle. You can turn that screw untill you get down to 4V WOT.

I know what screw your talking about...i was going to do that but..if i was to adjust the screw to that point wouldn't the cable snap in time do the pressure of me flooring it?

I doubt it but then again you can break just about anything if you try hard enough. I wouldn't worry about it but if it were to snap from that then you were due for a new one.

Check WOT by hand too.. just flip the throttle plate to max without using the pedal and you will be able to see the max reading possible on the TPS to help decide if its bad.

its the same w/pressing the pedal and doing it by hand.. I just bought this tps not even a month ago..i doubt its that..

The upper TPS voltage range is not set by adjusting the TPS. You can/should only set it using the throttle stop screw.

FSM Procedure:

1. Adjust the TPS for Full Closed throttle at 0.45v - 0.55v; Recommended setting: 4.8v
- Accomplished by adjusting the position of the TPS

2. Adjust the TPS for Full Open Throttle (WOT) to 4v; Recommended setting: EXACTLY 4.0v
- Accomplished by adjusting the Throttle stop screw at WOT. This is done by hand (not pedal)

Turning the stop screw will not affect your throttle cable. Throttle cable adjustments are only needed to make sure that the butterfly plate actually closes fully.

Which FSM is that?
My B13 FSM says approximately 4v, not exactly 4v.

If over 4v causes problems, I'd like to know because I should adjust the TPS on both of them. They both peak around 4.2 volts.

Thanks!
