Thread: 17 year old car. Anyone know YET why we need to get extra adjustment from the clutch?

Look at it like this.

1. If you have a stock clutch you bracket will not flex forward but your cable could have stretch. ( my bracket fixes that problem.

2. If you have a presure plate with heavy clamping force, then the bracket bends back ( my bracket solves that problem )

3. If you have a presure plate with heavy clamping force and a cable with stretch ( my bracket fixes that,.

4. The bracket because of better leverage techniques incorperated in to it stops lever brakeage ( my bracket stop that )

Please take a look at your washer thing and keep putting more washers on there and tell me what will happen when you have about 4-5 washers on there. Your washer thing is just a bandade to a bigger problem.

I propose the spacer solution is good for "shortening" a stretched cable or cable that's too long for some other reason on stock pressure plates with light clamping force or pressure plates designed with medium clamping forces and revised leverage to keep pedal effort low (JWT comes to mind, here's Greg explaining). The most the spacer will do is get your adjustment back, and things should be back to stock behavior. If your bracket flexed before, it'll still flex now, causing all manner of other problems described in the posts above. If you have a typical medium or heavy clamping force pressure plate you've got bigger problems with a flexing bracket, regardless of cable length, that should be taken care of with Andre's bracket. Or, if you have a stock or similar pressure plate and want to eliminate all flex in the bracket, and get yourself to a place "better than stock" you need Andre's bracket.

I hate you.. You make me type to much. I guess its cool and all to completly understand whats going on but when one person is trying to do the explaining it just gets old quick.

I even make this bracket with an adjustable spacer. Which allows you to have from zero 1 1.5 inc of adjustment but no one will pay me to make it.

It s bracket that the center has been drilled ot larger, then a threaded metal ring is put in the threads being on the inside. Then you have a spacer that is threaded on the outside and that gives you the adjustment. There is a skiny nut that allows you to lock it into place.

How much Dre? Pending the price is affordable, I might pick one up. You can PM me if you like.

I only got 6 stock brackets

2 from me
2 from SERICAN
2 from Happynole.

I have over 20 people who wants them but want me to send the brackets out first. Then I have a few people whos said they would send brackets and nothing has come in the mail.

I am not getting anything done until I get 4 more brckets.

OK, I just don't have another car to drive in the meantime. I will call my boy tomorrow to see if I can get his.

You dont have to send one I am just saying I am not going to make any until I got 10 pcs
