code 21....stumped ...help please!
I am getting frustrated here.
My VE nx has been randomly dying on me lately, and I can't find the problem.
The car starts and runs good, idles perfect, and has never died while idling. But if I drive around,it will just die,and I keep trying to start it,cranks fine but no start....then after a few minutes of trying, etc. It will start again, and all is like normal until it dies again....it is like someone has a remote shutoff and they are focking with me,LOL
Replaced recently....(since the problem started)with new Nissan parts ,wires, cap, rotor, z32 fuel filter, and ngk plugs. No major change, still same problem.

I get code 21...ignition signal.I have an FSM,and tested everything in the ignition system, and everything checks out perfectlyWTF
ECU,ignition switch, power transistor,coil,distributor,resistor/condenser,Etc....all good. All my plugs and harnesses are in great shape too.

Is it possible for any of these components to fail intermittantly...like the coil,or dizzy???
I have had alot of cars and have never heard of this happening.

Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.I can get more than a mile from the house without breaking down.I have been stuck like 10 times in the last week, trying to figure this out.
Once time...it died,I got out ,pulled a plug and cranked it,and it started on 3 cyls and had great spark...so I put the spark plug back in and it fired right up.I got a few blocks, and it did it again.CRAZY CHIT MAN

I even tried pulling the fuel pump, thinking I was picking up crap in the tank(even though code 21 is ignition....I dont know what else to do at this point, other than swap the coil, and other stuff one by one off my good running nx and hope to get lucky

The Dizzy can fail intermittently like that. When mine went bad, the car would start and idle until it warmed up, then once it got up to temp it would just shut off and wouldn't start back up for a few minutes.

I had that SAME problem on my SE-R when i got it BUT it was the coil. Replaced it and haven't had a problem since.

Robchaos...Yeah,sounds like the same issue I am having.
Guess I will try the dist. and coil one at a time and see what happens...I hate that they would test fine, but then still fail like that.

Don't just look at the plug test the continuity of the each wire. Thats how I found the broken wire on mine.

I did that already, and I also had it running and tried to wiggle all my connections and wire harnesses around to make it fail....with no luck.
Thanks again, and I will definately post whatever fixes it.I had very little luck searching this problem on both forums.

But I definately appreciate your suggestions.I may repeat the whole process soon again, because this NEED to be fixed ASAP.Hopefully before the weekend is over.

The CAS is what goes bad in the Distributor. Its hard to confirm a problem like that in the distrib. because it will be perfectly fine but once the sensor gets some heat on it, it craps out. Wait a couple minutes after it cools down enough, and its perfectly fine again. You'd need a lab scope to view any wave form signal such as a crank or cam sensor.

Are you running a MSD box? If you are, try switching back to stock ignition. It happened to me once and it cured the problem. I was using a Digital 6 ignition box.

My msd box crapped out on me doing the same thing. I took it off and it fixed it.
