Putting gti-r rods and pistons in a de block?
I searched and couldn't really find much. I want to put gtir rods and pistons in my de block.
What all is needed to do this? Any special machining needed? This is a pretty budget build, trying to stay around $800 or so to completely rebuild the engine. Minus the machine work. I will be using all Nissan parts, and hoping to make 400whp very reliably.
Any more info on the topic is greatly appreciated. I know the stock sr can handle the task, but I want a bit more reliability. I just broke my other engine after almost 3 years of boost.
Here is the breakdown of parts.
Rods and pistons- $160 used
piston rings- $80 local
Rod and main bearings- $100 new clevite77
new main and head bolts- $60 ish
front and rear main seal-$20 local
cometic head gasket- $78 local
water pump- $65 local
H/V oil pump- Already had this but $200ish
misc.,oil, coolant, tranny goo, cleaners, and tune up parts $100
I will pretty much reuse everything else. I do under stand there could be more expense, but I don't want to count the rods and pistons. Cause some don't think they are nescesary. We will see how it works out.
Thanks Ken
