I thought if you use GTI-R Rods, you have to use the Crank too?????

No, the rods are the same width. Although is is advised to turn or polish the crank, to be sure the bigger bearing sits proper on the journal.

Can the Gtir pistons be used with DE pins, rings and rods?

and by the way, anyone selling 4 gtir pistons around?

Bringing this thread back from the dead.

Ken, did you try putting the GTi-R bearing in the DE rod cap? It looks like it would fit perfectly, and there doesn't seem to be a difference in the mating surface between the two from the pictures. No difference at all. I know Coheed said it won't work (the other way around), but I don't see why. There's 1mm on both sides of the DE bearing where there's still rod cap. And the GTi-R bearing looks like it has 1mm extra on both sides, and the alignment tang is in the perfect spot. Maybe I'm missing something with the alignment tang... =/

I forget exactly what it was, but they wouldn't fit properly. I believe it was something with the tab on the bearing being just a bit to wide to fit the cap. Don't quote me, it's been a while since I had messed with this.

so then you need gti-r rod caps. which would bring new clearance issues im assuming.

Ben, thanks for bumping this.
