The Dash > Facebook
I haven't posted here in years. I miss this place!

Due to the recent big tech political censoring on FB, I wanted to let people know that you may start to see people returning to the forum. For those that don't know, I'm Henry (Hank) Lint on FB.

I'm going to be spreading the word that if you're tired of the BS on FB, that the Dash is still around.

We have a Convention planned in FL this coming April. I think in the coming days, weeks, months the group is going to need a more inclusive and secure place to communicate. I'd hate to see the people getting cancelled on FB, not be aware of the forum to get the info they need. Obviously the OG won't have a problem, but some of the new folks might be in the dark.

I have always felt it was a mistake for everyone to leave the forum. I just want to thank Ben for keeping it going.

Make the Forum Great Again!

Thank you for the kind words @hammerin hank. As you would imagine, the forum welcomes any Facebook refugees.

Would be great for a move back to forums. But, isn't banning, censoring, deleting posts on a forum just about the same thing that you hate about facebook?

Did Facebook really really really really start to suck? Doesn't matter. It would be lovely to see members file back in and begin posting again. Cheers!

Not even close. Facebook is banning/censoring people for speaking truth and showing facts that counter a political narrative. As such, that negates the deal they have with the federal government under section 230 of the Communications Decency Act to be protected from users suing them. To add insult to injury there are politicians openly pressuring Facebook to cancel their political opponents on their "platform". That part, just flat out violates a citizen's 1st amendment rights and it flat out tyranny. Facebook is acting as an extension of the government in that case.

The forum, on the other hand, bans for criminal activities/harassing others and general violation of agreed upon forum policies. Since the forum is considered a "publisher", it is not protected under section 230. Hence, I have legal recourse, if I feel liked I've been wronged. Not so, with Fakebook.

You are incorrect sir.

While we might have a slightly tough time arguing the forum is a common carrier (as much as we try to aim for that), we are much more so than Facebook, that's for damn sure.
If you can't win a lawsuit against Facebook, you sure as shit can't win one against the forum (for the same thing).

and remember, the forum keeps all the 'facts' about what was done, how it was done, where to find it and LOTS of other necessary and interesting stuff, not just jaw-flappin' like happens on FB.
If you don't know, search the forum, someone will have done it and the answers are always there.
