Correct.I almost feel like I remember that it didn't seem to matter if I put it in timing mode or not? But if it's not, the marks on the crank pulley don't stabilize, right?
Timing mode locks the ECU into what it thinks is 15° BTDC, and doesn't let it apply any trims to help with idle, etc.
So in theory the timing mark should be rock solid.
You can time an engine without it being in timing mode, but it's annoying since ignition trims will be applied, the mark will be jumping around, etc.
But it can be done.
