I need to re-do my G20 headliner. Do you have to like sand off the crap underneath the fabric that is there now to get a good contact surface?

Same type of fabric I used, what you do is if you are using that 3M Adhesive spray I sprayed both the headliner board, AND the headliner itself, I think I went through 1 1/2 cans just to be safe, no seeping through either. just have someone else there to help you because that stuff clings on well

I didnt have to sand down the old stuff, just took an old tire brush and brushed it all off.

what's this 3M adhesive SPRAY that you speak of??? is that supposed to make it stick better? i just took my time and carefully glued the entire cardboard piece first. then i took a hose and sprayed it so it would help the glue sink into the cardboard better. then after it dried for 15 minutes i applied another coat of glue. then after that i put my headliner on. looks really good.

we didn't have to pull it out of the car to do it right?

i used this stuff:
