COP for standard fwd ECU!
I have with the help of ebinkerd created a very affordable way to do coil on plug. The part cost is <10$ + the "smart/dumb" coils of choice.

Proof of concept:

Just wanted to share this achievement with the forum, I am going to improve the code to include additional features reliably, like wasted spark and maybe even multistrike. 2017 is going to be an interesting year for sure!

Constantly evolving code can be found here: https://github.com/dalathegreat/Arduino-Coil-On-Plug

Cool shit!

Not sure wasted spark is a "feature"?

I would argue that it is a feature
-You can do coil-near-plug with only two coils, reducing the amount of total components
-Wasted spark should in theory improve emissions by burning off any leftover HCs in the exhaust. Not noticeable without extreme gas analyzers though

This application can switch wasted operation on/off, so for instance at idle you can have wasted enabled and as RPMs rise it switches to fully sequential for better coil cooling inbetween firing events.

This platform we are developing is all about customization. ebinkered has successfully tested it with smart coils yesterday, so it is very versatile!

Nice freaking work! How did you solve the issues in development? Different board design?

I see your using a AEM 4 channel igniter to drive the coils. Which can only drive 2 wire dumb coils by the way, which your using. That AEM igniter is not cheap either!

The easiest way is to use a DET ecu and there stock OEM igniter to drive your choice of dumb coils.

I will be personally using a AEM ecu and a DET igniter to drive my dumb coils for my C.O.P. setup.
