I hope it doesn't get totaled . The repair is around $980 and the value of the car is around $900.

update. There's good new and bad news. bad news is that those fucks totaled my car. The good news is that I called my insurance and they said I can still be with them if I decide to salvage my car. Also, i have to speak with the adjuster about bringing down the cost for the repairs if I want to avoid getting my car totaled. I have to wait til monday though.

Check out your state laws on how the handle salvage cars. Some states do not even offer this, but you can get an R-title or Reconditioned or Refurbished, whatever your state calls it. I would not recommend doing so in the state of PA as I have first hand experience with that. It was costly in the end to save something I should have let go a while ago.

They tried to total my NX also with some ridiculously low number but I would not accept it. I mentioned it's classic status in 2017 and challenged them to find an NX in this good of condition anywhere in the US. My bluff worked haha. I also was able to source a rear NX bumper in great condition from 'the facebook' through friends on this site...don't think any of the above would have happened if the facebook bumper didn't happen. Very thankful for that!!!

If you can source some parts on your own (bumper/fenders?) that might help lower your shop costs...but get on it so as to not delay the shop.

I'm currently searching for parts. I found CAPA and NSF certified car parts so the insurance company, hopefully, won't bitch to me about the parts not being OEM or qualified parts. I have to order them through ebay.

Here in C.A. we do have that option, but it doesn't say how much of the car needs to be fixed in order to be reconditioned.

My brothers JV0 G20 got T-boned and was totaled. Wasn't his fault and the lady's insurance said that they would give him book value (somewhere around $1000) We just finished building the car new avenir engine, GTX turbo, Stainless 3" exhaust, 6 speed conversion, interior, 350z brakes, wheels, tires, methanol system... We only paid $700 for the car but what hurt was the months it took to get the car together that were lost and having to move it all again to another donor car. Plus the fact of finding another straight car for $1000 takes time too. He told me he was going to tell the insurance everything he had put into the car and produce receipts for everything, down to the air filter haha... I told him they wouldn't do anything being that most was aftermarket stuff and they would probably blow him off and waste his time. Well he spent 2-3 months dicking with them wasting their time and finally they agreed on somewhere around $3500 and him keeping the car. Only stipulation was turning the title over for salvage status. So if you don't like their offer don't just jump on a low ball pay out. They like to get claims taken care of in a certain amount of time. I bet you can hold out for the same parts that your car had on it, you might have to wait them out a little but it might be worth the wait.

Exactly, it's an offer...you can reject it. But you should have reasons/receipts to back it up!

hmmm. something fishy is going on. the adjuster never came out to see my car nor other cars that were there at the autobody shop. I got a call from the adjuster and she said they are going to total it. I said that i want to find some parts to lower the cost. She said let me see if that's possible, i'll call you back. She didn't call back. I called the autobody shop to see when they came out and that's when i found out that no one actually came out.

Anyway, i'm currently filling out a DMV form REG 343 and i'm stuck with section 6 because it says something about the cost of the car. I'm not sure what i should put down since i dont want to add anymore expenses if i have to pay some sort of fee or tax.

As I mentioned before, a 'select service' shop (as State Farm calls them) does not require you to wait for an adjuster. The body shop has built up a good reputation so that the insurance company takes them at their word for the damages they find related to the accident.

I would talk to the body shop....face to face!...much better that way!...see what they say about you trying to source some parts. Tell them why...give them a sob story...do everything you can to try and convince them to not total it. Not sure what else to tell you. Good luck!

just as @1fastser said the adjuster took the shops word for it. I picked up my car today but i'm having trouble with just the turn signal http://www.sr20-forum.com/car-entertainment-general-electronics/80417-turn-signal-problem.html#post1050690 if anyone can help i started a new thread.

i told them about sourcing parts but they said since my car has some pre-existing conditions that i need to fix they didn't want to take the chances and blaming the crash on causing those damages, so they are still totaling the car.
