Here in Alabama the phone insurance proof doesn't mean squat to a cop and they will write you a no proof citation if you don't have a valid current paper copy on hand. Several people I know including our boss at work has been hit with citations when trying to show them proof with the phone.

Already did. He does have insurance.

One thing came to mind is that I have a 01 SE with the spec v bumper, so I'm not sure if they will put on another bumper from the spec v or the original SE bumper.

^ it will be an SE bumper cover (not the specV one unless it was actually an option for the SE from the factory which unfortunately for you, it was not )

I say this because as an example, the Neon had a SRT4 look edition with an SRT4 front bumper cover but it wasn't an SRT4.. but it was a factory option for 1 year (at least I think it was 1 year).. anyway, I remember this 1 person having a fight with insurance about it but ultimately winning because it was like that from the factory when they bought the car...

The purpose of insurance is to get you back to the condition you were in prior to the accident. If you had a different bumper on your car prior to the accident then you need to let the insurance company know (PICS HELP!) so they can replace it....to get you back to where you were before the accident occurred. I'd be calling BS and taking that mess on up the ladder until someone wanted to just shut me up and make me go away!

good point.. how much you want to fight factors in for sure.. ..and I've never had this exact thing happen to me but I sure am a fighter (fought with my health insurance company for months to get 3 claims paid but after escalating it to the Illinois Department of Insurance and getting them and their lawyers involved, my claims finally got 100% paid!)

Update. They're going to fix everything including the fender, but I'm not sure if they are going to replace it or just hammer away at it. I don't think they're going to paint it since it was a replacement. I asked if they are going to put back on the stock or specv bumper but I have to talk to the adjuster about that.

In CA you've been able to have it on your phone since around 2012 haha, somethings are better in CA, not many things but some

That is something you can also work out with the body shop sometimes BUT if that's the bumper you had on the car before the accident ...and you provided pics...then I would quote and follow post#24

wait. NVM i think they're going to total it. Am i allowed to keep my car if it's totaled? I'm sure they're going to low ball me. I fixed all the suspension parts and the engine was rebuilt 30-40k ago. pretty much 5k in repairs gone if they decide to total it.

You are allowed to buy back the salvage...but you're not supposed to 'profit' from a claim so you would not get a check AND your salvage.
