Swap SR20 in Micra k11
Hi all

As I wrote in the "New Members"

I have a problem with this sr20 swap in a micra k11, p11 144 1999-2002 with automatic transmission

The problem is not a gearbox because one gearbox is not difficult to find, the problem is the ecu for automatic trasmission, if is compatible with manual gearbox i don't know ( ecu of automatic p11 + manual gearbox of p11/p10 ) this is the problem

I read on the web that manual ecu and automatic ecu is not the same

You can use a automatic harness and ECU with a manual transmission but will get a check engine light because the automatic is obviously not connected, but it works.

You can't use a manual harness and ECU with a automatic transmission. There is no way to wire in a auto trans ECU to the main ECU.

then manual gearbox + cabling of automatic ECU + automatic ECU, it works all right?

Manual ecu vs automatic ecu not have a different map?

Yes, you can "step down" aka go from the automatic stuff to the manual. You cannot "step up" from the manual harness or ECU to an auto transmission/car. The manual car is more simple and if the automatic wiring is there, there is PLENTY of wiring for the manual version. Using the auto harness, you will have extra wires and plugs at most. But everything the manual car needs will have a mating plug.

Perfect, and for the map of ecu?

automatic ecu and manual ecu not have different map? rpm limiter, ecc

Once they get past 4 or 4.5K, they usually go into a default, "safe" mode where the A/F drops to crazy rich levels so no the car does not blow up. YOu can use another device to tune that air fuel ratio and adjust the maps to be more precise. The car has enough on board stuff to make it safe. It may not be fun, ideal, or fast, but it will be safe and you can drive the car.

then
find a manual ECU is the easiest way?

the problem is that a manual ecu is very rare in italy of this model p11 144

Any P11-144 manual ecu should plug right in. It does not have to be Italy-specific ecu.

yes, the problem is find this ecu in italy because a p11 144 is very rare, or can I use a manual ECU of a p10 or p11gt?

this sr20 has a different plenum compared to sr20 of p10gt and p11gt, 140hp p11 144 vs 150hp p10gt and p11 gt

the compression ratio between p11 144 and p10/p11gt is the same?

( find a ecu of p10 or p11gt is easiest)

If I remember right some of the P11 144 cars had the blue ECU connector. You might post your ECU number or a pic so we know what you are running. It looks like you have a roller rocker engine so I would assume it's a 32bit OBD2 like we have here. Honestly when I ran my 99' P11 MT with either the auto or manual ecu I couldn't tell a difference. If the maps are different it isn't much. If you use a auto harness and auto ECU with a manual transmission the reverse lights and neutral safety switch have to be wired in to work.
