Correct. But for the average bolt on NA car, at least for the SR20, not worth the $150 from JWT and hassle. I had a convo a couple years ago and some of this was straight from Clark Steppler's mouth

It does not. It does not matter if the engine is turbo or N/A, either. It is the users choice.

It does. For example the Honda B-series motors benefit much more from cam gears, and they are easier to install

Totally pointless to argue with someone who is so convinced they are correct when they have such little knowledge about how the part functions. The forum can view this and decide for themselves.

Call Clark at JWT and ask him

Clark was most likely referring to your specific needs... No need to move the power curve higher in the RPM range if all you MAINLY do is daily drive it...instead of, say, a dedicated track car that would spend most of its time in the upper range.

But to say, "For NA applications the cam gears are not needed" is not a true statement.

That's not applicable for S4 or S5 cam installs, OP was specifically asking about S4s. Worth it in turbo applications like I said

@Storm88000 and @91sentragti-r I HIGHLY suggest you guys ignore each other before this gets out of hand again.

To add my two cents, which are worth exactly that, about cam gears. If your looking for a simple setup, no, cam gears are not a must, NA or Turbo. If your wanting to fine tune your power delivery then they are useful. If you have them already might as well install them.

Also since you are Turbo, depending on your manifold, you might need them to dial back the overlap of S4's. Avenir or GTi-R Manifolds should be fine but log manifolds don't like that much overlap.
