The resistor fools the ECU into thinking that the sensor is installed. If someone can advise on the resistor value needed I probably have one you can have. I have about 200 of them.

That's why he said put a resistor in there so it will not trip the MIL .

@Storm88000, basically you're getting a code because you don't have the rear o2 sensor installed, nowhere to put it.

A workaround is to fool the ECU into thinking it is there by adding a resistor to the circuit, but that seems to be hit or miss and a bit half-assed from what I've read tonight.

IMHO, the best way to address it is to run the sensor as intended. Either add a bung your current cat, or better yet get a decent high flow cat with a bung, and install a new sensor.

The job is only as half-assed as YOU make it! . You just need the correct resistor... Wish I had an answer there. My .02

I agree, that goes for anything. O2 "simulators" are all over the interweb for relatively little money so it could be a neat, tidy plug and play fix instead of soldering in Radio Shack components. If it we're my issue I'd go with the high flow cat with bunghole (relatively inexpensive) and a new sensor then call it a day.

...not NEAR as inexpensive as a 5-pk of resistors and some heat shrink...but OP has the info he needs. Once again, the horse is at the water trough.
