Dash Not Working
i recently disassembled my dash and did some wiring work underneath. after putting everything back together, the gauge cluster does not work.

the battery light glows red.
the lights in the cluster work.
the tach does not work.
the lights do not come on when the car is in the ON position
temp gauge does not work
oil pressure light does not work
fuel gauge does not work
etc.

checked fuses multiple times and it IS NOT the fuses. is there anything else i'm missing?

Well, what wiring did you mess with? If it worked fine before you did some wiring then your wiring must be causing the issues. Check your connections and make sure that the wires you taped in to are the right wires.

Check the fusable link in the engine bay, the engine cont fusable link.

does the brake lights themselves work? if not, i bet its engine cont...it controls a lot

it's a b13. i went in there to mainly clean up the wiring that had been done before. i rewired the launch control setup and cleaned up the alarm harness but did not touch the oem harness minus where i drew power from (the cig lighter).

the cluster issue arose after i had put the car back together and even before i put the dash in and played with the wiring. i was hoping that i had not connected a ground or something and that was causing the gauges not to work.

the fuses all checked out good for the third time. i will check the fusable links today and trace the common powers and grounds for them too. the brake lights DO work.

thank you all for your input. i will keep you updated.

I agree man, you might just have to rip it apart again and check over your wiring to be sure it's all good, and that you got all the plugs back in. If the brake lights work, then you should have power to the gauge cluster. And a short on that line will blow one of the fuses every time you turn on the lights (don't remember which, I think the brake light fuse). So maybe something is just wired wrong.

I hate dash wiring with a PASSION! What a PITA!

it turns out my wiring checked out alright. i went through the FSM to see if there was a test procedure for the cluster and sure enough there was. after testing everything and seeing it worked properly, i plugged in another cluster and it worked. so i went back to my own cluster and noticed that inside the "harness" if you will (the blue part that holds the copper wires), had a small break in the power wire.

i resoldered the copper pieces together and plugged it back in and it worked. problem solved. thank you all for your contributions.
