Thread: No transmission car start.

There away I can start my car with no transmission on the block? I need to see if my flywheel is causing a rubbing sound(might be unevenly bolted to the crank). I wanted to watch the flywheel spin with I'm under watching it. I tried just spinning it with my hands about I can't tell whats going on. Thanks

As long as the flywheel is on it would be the same as spinning if you have the clutch in. Just be careful.

How do I go about starting the car though? lol

Bolt the starter back up? What about the having the clutch pedal to engage the switch.

you can jump the clutch relay under the hood (make it "always on")...outside that you'd be jumping power to the starter solenoid directly.

or jump it in the car, just unplug it from the pedel

you all forgot that there is no tranny to mount the starter to... use a couple sockets as spacers and bolt the starter on

Could you have someone spin the crank pulley with a wrench while you look?

im flying solo on this little project. I think the wifey would be to wimpy for the job of spinning the crank pulley. lol

i have pulled the plugs in my nx before and spun the crank and it was very easy because there wasnt any compression taking place. when i cranked it like that, it was spinning fast and kept spinning for a few seconds after i stopped.
Do you have anything to mount up the starter like nismomatt said? that would probably be the easiest thing to do, and less straining on your arm.
