Radiator & fans conundrum
This is my recent and current issue.

Got this fan from a '93 Nx2k. Not sure which side of the radiator it came from as the jy wouldn't let you touch or look for long.

Picked up this radiator for a good price, since my Nx's was busted at the bottom...

Got 2 more fans from a '95 G20.
The far right one is from that jy Nx2k, the other 2 are '95 G20...

The 2 on each end look the same to me & both have 4 blades.

Close-up of the middle one (from '95 G20), has 5 blades...

Following pictures is a test fitting of the '95 G20 fans on the above radiator...

As you can see the filler neck and inlet connection is in the way here...

red yarn is to show a little better where the mounting tabs are on the fans...
Fan mounts are adjacent to the mounting pieces on the radiator and the fan mounts also stick out quite a ways further than the radiator mounts as well...

I have tried every possible combination between the 3 fans, just didn't take pictures of it all.
The jy Nx2k fan came the closest to fitting (& only worked on the driver side of the radiator) the tabs almost lined up.

I'm not sure what your goals are with it, but slim fans should be the way to go with this. It really opens up a lot of room, even if you dont turbo, it will save bloody knuckles and arms when working around the exhaust manifold.

I really wish I would've went that route now instead. But $ has been tight on this resurrection project since I got robbed of the build money. So can't really turn around now.

Just ziptie them on until you can upgrade to slim fans

I briefly considered that. But the mounts on the radiator do not go all the way through, as seen here with an arrow pointing to the backside of one....

And the mounting tabs for the fans sit quite a bit higher than the radiator itself anyways...

More pov pics, sorry my lighting in that room doesn't fair well with the camera...

Cut the plastic with a saw or a dremel to make room for the coolant outlet. Rig it with wire or zipties when mounted in the car, attach it to the upper/lower radiator support if you cant attach them to the radiator.

Just make it work!

That's about what's going to have to happen. I've got time until I get to this point, not much but depending on this weather here really (103*+F days lately, just brutal).
But looks like I'll have to cut off about 1/2" over the entire tops of the fan shrouds themselves, then drill in holes to mount to the radiator.

I haven't compared the 2, between the heat & trying to get work done on the Chupa too I just haven't gotten to that.
Jay has this exact radiator & said everything was plug-n-play for him though.

My guess is the radiator is wrong, and trying to adapt fans from a different car exacerbates the problem.
