I'll have to keep that in mind Char, thanks for the info.

After as many stock fans I have ended up with (I've lost count) I had been hoping to get something to work.
We found one that the fan motor is flush (the ones in the pics above & it's the one Jay sent me) and cut on the front shroud area and think we freed up 1/2" (before it measured 3" & now it's 2.5"=what most slimfans on ebays thickness is anyways) & just got done modifying a heatshield (wanted it to cover the majority of the wiring plus the fan motor) for it.

We've lost some of the header bolts... So yay, yet another delay.

You can use the stock fan shroud and an aftermarket slim fan for a stealthy oem look...seen below.

I had to trim (chew on to make fit ) the shroud for the fans...coulda (shoulda) trimmed the fans instead.

This is going to be my dumb noob questions thread
I went with shaving the shroud on the fan Jay sent me. Got it down to 2.5" thick and customized (alright just manipulated) a heatshield.

Hard to tell in the pics (poor lighting in the evenings) but there is a gap between the heatshield and intake and also between the sensor and the fan blades.
By the hair on my chinny-chin-chin.

Start up day came today and go figure the Curse of the Chupacabra strikes again...

1st step) pulled fuel pump fuse to prime the cylinders.
2nd step) did a test on electricals, everything seems to be working BUT the fucking turn signals still (new stalk, new bulbs, wiring looked good) I believe we checked all fuses when we first got the car & they all looked alright but need to recheck. But what else could it be? In case the fuse is alright.
3rd step) went to start (to really prime) and NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH happened... no clicking, absolutely fucking nothing. WTF?!

Did a quick look through of the FSM to see if there was a troubleshooting guide, didn't find anything.
Checked to make sure everything was connected to the starter - it is.

So what gives? Anyone know?

ETA:
Found that the nipple under the clutch peddle wasn't getting contact. So quick, temp fix and now the starter is turning but isn't engaging.
Even tried giving the starter a few whacks while turning the key. Will be rechecking bolts on the starting tomorrow in hopes that's all it is.

Get to whackin'! You need to take a LONG look in the FSM...not a quick one...Speedo'ette

How's the battery? Ign.switch sending pwr to solenoid? (Do the lights dim when you turn the key?) Are you engaging the solenoid?

I can't handle a long look lol out in the heat especially.
Battery is from the little beast and is good.
Not turning on the lights when we start, they're all just hanging around anyways (since the whole front end is off) so it'd be hard to tell. And have all the lights off/down in the interior too.

Got past that... turns out the engine & starter (came all together when I bought them) was missing the starter bolts. So that's what was throwing it out.
Luckily found some bolts to fit it, got em on and now it is turning over but not starting.
Not sure what in my line of fuel-air-spark isn't working and that's what I am assuming is the issue now. You can hear the fuel pump working.
NEW plugs & wires, fuel pump, fuel filter.
But had to use the OLD Chupa's rats nest engine dizzy, ignition coil and power transistor... so maybe that's what needs to be looked at next. Unless someone has something else I need to look at too. I am suspecting dizzy.
Anyways, done for the night... will have to wait until tomorrow now.

Make sure your fuel hoses are on correctly.
