Questions regarding a swap- please help
I figure I need to make a thread for this instead of trying to use chat. My Internet @ home went out the other day and not sure when I'll get that back.
And cell reception here @ home sucks ass.
So it's really hard to discuss anything on the chat for sure now.

I should be doing some research but with the aforementioned issues I can't. So I figured maybe I could make a thread here and people could help me out.

Looks like the Chupacabra (92 Nx2k) will be getting a '99 g20 low port as a heart and the transmission as well.
Now here are my questions so far:

1) the Chupacabra is apparently an obd1 & the g20 is obd2 (no, won't be getting the ecu or harness stuffs from g20).
So I would like to know what I need to do here?

2) I assume all motor/trans mounts are the same between the Nx and G20?

3) the G20 has hydraulic clutch but I think I'd prefer to stick with cable clutch. What all is needed to make this change?

4) will all the plugs from my harness be used on this engine or will there be some things not used (either from the Nx's wiring side or the engine side of things)?

5) which axles do I use? G20's I would think, but not sure if G20's are wider or narrower than an Nx.

6) is there ANYTHING I should/need to know regarding a swap like this? Wisdom? Learnin's?
Remember this IS my 1st ever swap. I am probably over thinking it and making it seem like it's way more complicated than it is (which I tend to do) but I just want to do it right.

I am sure I'll have more questions later on when we get down-n-dirty (which if everything goes as planned should be real soon) but until then this is all I have. But I'll address all future questions here in this thread as well.
Thank you

Its all minor stuff,no problem
1.) use your harness no problem there.he only difference is the configuration of the intake ,so the intake piping will be slightly different fitment.not a big deal
2.)Mounts work fine no problem there
3.)hydro conversion to cable is easy as well.Theres a writeup here,http://www.sr20-forum.com/general-maintenance/53-how-p11-b15-transmission-swap-into-b13-b14-p10.html?highlight=transmission
4.)take it one plug at a time and you will be fine.OBD2 will have a few extras not used
5.)Use B13/B14 axles G20 axles are too long
6)Some things I always do when I do a swap
-Water pump
-Thermostat
-Front and rear crank seals
-axle seals
-fuel filter
-coolant temp sensors from old engine or new ones (even better)
-dizzy oring

**** prime the new engine with oil by cranking it over a few times with the fuel fump fuse out before initial start up.This helps circulate oil

If the trans is lsd the nx(lsd) axles work if not you need a non lsd for the drivers side.I think the passengers is the same for lsd or non lsd

Thank you Jay.
It is lsd, and he was giving me the axles as well but I guess I know for sure that I will have to get the Nx ones.

Research and searching for writeups is a huge issue for me right now without having actual Internet and 2 cell bars sitting here on the porch. I'll just have to wait and look into that whenever (and god I hope soon, cause this is a PITA) we get internet again.

So are you referring to using the nx mounts or g20 mounts?
There was something brought up in chat about not knowing if the g20 trans had the front mount that would be needed for this swap.
There was no conclusion to that issue.
But you make it sound as if it does?

Ah and just seen you added the link for the write up.... Thank you!!

all your NX mounts are what you use.
If the g20 axles are in good condition,I may be interested in them so LMK. If you could get the P11 crossmember for me I would take that too....turn it into cash or parts for your build!!

I have a 99 trans in my nx and in my B14 one cable one hydo.No issues it goes right in...BTW keep in mind that writeup is actually for the newer 70series trans instal....so all you need from that thread is what to do to the clutch arm...the other stuff like grinding the linkage is only for the 00-02 trans (70v)...not the 32V like the B13,B14 and 99P11 are.

From an install perspective the 99 trans is the same as the B13/B14 except being hydro

Not sure if I am getting the crossmember or not. The Chupacabra does need one as that was something else it was missing. But Zen informed me that a crossmember from a 5spd GA works too and since we have 1 of those as a parts car it got claimed by the Chupacabra.
I'll definitely let you know about the axles, since they won't be any use to me. And I'll see about his crossmember if it doesn't come with.. Not sure what a fair price for those are. But all this is coming from a member here parting it out.
