Looks like I had the power cable to the amp from the battery running alongside the bundle of cables which included the ground cable for the driver side headlight. Could this have caused some issues?? I moved the power cable away from the headlight ground cable and it may have helped some.

The amp is located under the passenger seat. It's grounded to one of the bolts holding the passenger seat down.

Thats not a great ground, you want to have it on its own bolt to the chassis with the paint removed. Keep the ground away from all other wires if possible.

i had the same issue. mine occured after i added a 4 channel to run the speakers, and did the big 3. turns out it was a ground loop, that i was able to just swap ground locations and it fixed itself

Where did you first have the ground and where did you move it?

i first had it on the alt body ground, and that caused a ground loop. so i switched it to another engine bolt and it got rid of the ground loop
