still battling cooling issues
so im gonna drain my coolant and try to get the best 50/50 mixture of water to coolant...cuz i dont think it is right,as i almost overheat while highway speeds and have to turn on the HEAT to help cool the motor down IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER!!!(sux)!!!

noob question;

so how much is 50%? like 2 quarts? 3quarts?......how much actual volume does the cooling system hold?...so i can tell when im at 50%of either coolant or water?

should i mix one gallon(4quarts) of 2qrts coolant + 2qrts water?

or would 1qrts coolant + 3qrts water be more effeicent? i also have water wetter im gonna use as well.....anyone have any tips?

I just buy the pre diluted mix instead of ****ing with it. Make sure you PROPERLY bleed the system also.

Yeah, if you feel like getting raped... 50/50 is like 10 bucks, full strength is 12. Get one gallon full strength, 2 gallons distilled water from the grocery store, and a bottle of water wetter. Put the full strength in first and top off with the distilled water. Make sure you run the car with out the rad cap until it gets up to temp, while sqeezing the lower rad hose to get any air out. There will be enough coolant in it to keep it from ever freezing. Unless u live in canada, which I can't see because I am on my crackberry.

my temps get up to 220-230 at cruising speeds under 70 mph... like 5thgear,3k rpm for like 3 min!!! so i hope this works for me....

im gonna start with 1qrt coolant and 1 qrt water and evenly keep it 50/50 then add the water wetter....

Have you replaced your water pump at all? How many miles on the car? Seems like a slight mixture issue should not cause the over heating. Have you checked the temp? is it really getting that hot or are you sensors bad? At this point i would look in other directions other than coolant.

not sure if its going out but i want to try this first....there is some odd noise coming from the pulleis but im leaking a lil PS fluid so i think that is accountable for it...i have an aftermarket temp guage and sometimes my fans work sometimes they dont?

Yes. There is no way you should be overheating unless you have another problem or just not enough coolant period. Even running pure water should keep it cool enough.

Definitely make sure it's bled properly. If it's still overheating check your thermostat too.

I'm having the same problem with my NX, except my water pump is only one year old. I'm out of ideas too

so your saying that your after market gauge is reading hot to?? ok well there is your issue you said that your fans sometimes come on and sometimes not?? if that is the case then you need to check your fan fuse and and connections to the fans and trace wires to see if your grounding out. check to see if your fans and see if they are not burning out/..

other then that i dont know what to tell you. the mix is not the problem its something else.. are you bleeding it right? have your check your thermostat?
