Thread: Transmission questions.

Hey guys, new to the forum here. I recently picked up an SR20DET and a 5 speed transmission. I am going to throw it in my Jeep Comanche, my problem is that the 5 speed that came with the sr is a bit too long. In the sense that where the shifter bolts to the transmission is way too far back. I don't think it will be in a comfortable spot. Is there any transmissions that are shorter? Where the shifter is closer to the engine? I looked in to to the z32 transmission and it seems to be shorter. Any input would help. Thanks guys.

I would look at the Z33 trans as that is what is also used in the Frontiers and Xterras. The Z32 I cannot speak on but I would think since the Z33 was used in SUV/Truck applications the shifter would e in a more ideal position. I have also heard its much stronger than the 5 Speed SR and the 6 Speed S15 transmission. Confirm for yourself of course.
