These photos don't really help out much. And still nothing about the axle. lol

You're going to be able to tell if there is damage better than we can from way over here.
I suggest you repack the halfshaft with grease, seal the boot (or get a new boot if yours is torn) and drive it to an alignment shop to get it sorted.
If it specs out, then you're good to go. If not, they will be able to give you an idea of what needs to be replaced.

Pics of the side of the CV joint with the boot would be nice. If there are 3, huge, ball bearings inside the race, then you should be okay.

Jordan claimed he was going to check for that yesterday and I guess he completely forgot? I dunno but we are trying to help someone who does not want to help himself it would appear.

It is like pulling teeth! He texted me a new photo, he does have those bearings that fit into the half shaft that goes into the transmission. That c-clip did its job. I do not know if the axle shaft was split or he removed the whole axle in prep for the new axle install tomorrow.

If nothing is broken, do not send that in, just pay the core and keep your $400+ dollar axle for a rebuild.

Sorry guys -

My little brother (well guess not so little anymore) just had his very first baby son born last night at 1am or so, so needless to say I'm not on a lot of sleep. I though the questions were about if the wheel was bent backwards on the driver's side. Minus the retention rings on the busted axle, it looks good. It fits in perfectly. So since I already have another on the way I'll keep this one as a spare or someone who wants an LSD one (yes even though my car is a 98-SE it also has the '00 Sentra SE LSD trans)

Just an anecdote, but I crewed for a FWD lancer rally car a couple of years ago at the STPR rally up in wellsboro. They had a control arm failure of some sort and went off the road, and the axle was dislodged from the socket (very similar design) just like yours. A plastic bag as a makeshift boot and some zipties later, the car was out from service and back into the rally. Ran the rest of the rally like that, with no failure to the joints of the axle. The joints weren't damaged, the shaft wasn't bent, nothing was out of whack, the impact and the bending action of the control arm just ripped the boot off and took the joint out of the socket, rendering the open diff lancer unable to move. It's very very likely that your axle is a-ok.

That control arm is bent. Look at the sway bar link, it should be nice and vertical like the passenger side one. Also look at the rear side of the arm where the metal went wavy. While you're down there, replace that control arm. Its three bolts and two nuts to replace. Takes about 30 mins.

^Agree! And do yourself another favor and order the LCA *WITH* the ball joint, so you don't have to mess with that mess either!

Wait...which time was it that you "found out the hard way"?
