Custom header heat shield
Does any of you have a custom heat shield for your exhaust manifold?

I'm fabbing one for my SR20 but would like to know if somebody have done it before.

Header wraps FTW

I think I have seen a few custom ones though. If you really wanted to do it it would be fairly easy to cut and bend some sheet metal.

I got a header wrap, it works pretty well, but people say they can cause rust, so a heat shield could work well too. So I think I might have a project on my hands

Here is what I have now though:

What I don't get is, how can a Stainless Steel header rust?

Stainless steel is not rust proof...it just has a higher resistance to rust than regular steel...here is a good read on some of the general properties of stainless..

This is my prototype, I had a couple of mistakes since I wasn't driving the car to the shop, just trying to remember the measures.

I missed one drill 1"

Not bad at all! I didn't even think of using the extra bolt spaces in the block!

I might do this to further reduce heat, or if emissions requires it in my area
