too much work to search = ban. I support that!

EDIT: sorry to anyone else that feel that i came on to strong. I hate it when people don't even show an effort to get anything done, they prefer stuff handed to them/act like they're entitled to it. can't stand it and hate seeing other have to deal with it.

plus I'm one of the few Pro-BenFenner

Woah, woah. Who peed in your guys Cheerios? This forum member, whose primary method of accessing the forum is a cell phone, takes the time to offer a suggestion on making something easier, and y'all give him shit? Nice way to encourage change and progress. Bravo.

I think it's an idea worthy of consideration, and would be beneficial to not only to our members, but the vendors as well. As an example, take a look at the New and Hot on the Market section of Miata.net. It's a separate section, at the top of the Announcements section, with a separate thread for each new product released by a vendor. The vendors submit the info to the forum staff, who then post the thread and lock it. Now you've got a single place where all new products are easy to find. The vendors win, and the user community wins. It's called lowering the barrier to entry. Look it up some time.

Now, lets keep this discussion going like civilized people.

There is a section of The Manifesto dedicated to this exact purpose.

Group Buys, Sales, Rare Parts, and One-Off Production Runs (Active)

Admittedly I have been slacking on that front, but I can't be expected to do ALL of the work for that thread. A quick post in that thread with a link to a thread that merits inclusion is all it takes for anyone to help out.

I mean, how hard is it to go to vendors section and see what's going on? it's not like we have 100's of parts getting made. my only problem is when Ben suggest looking the vendors section and he said it was too much work. I felt like he's asking to be spoon fed which seems to be how most new people wants to be treated. also, even if we made a "New and hot on the market" section/post/thread, what makes you think he would actually look when he didn't even want to scroll to the vendors section? to me, it takes the same amount of effort.

If there's any change or progress that needs to be done it's for people to take a second, literally a second and search a bit.

edit: If he made this thread suggesting that a Thread/section is made for the new product for 2015 it would be different but to me, it dont seem that way. maybe I'm reading it wrong?

What is the downside of having a separate, dedicated section where all new products are listed in chronological order? ESPECIALLY when browsing on a call phone. If we (the forum staff) have the ability to make things easier, without significant effort on our part, why wouldn't do it? Easier doesn't mean necessarily equal lazy, in this case it equates to more efficiency. With all due respect to Ben, the Group Buy etc section of the manifesto is just another section in a wall of text, even on my large desktop monitor. Think about our users who are away from their home PC 10+ hours a day, and want to quickly check a few things on the forum. I can't think of any good reason not to make things easier.

but that's the thing Chris, he's not asking for others. he's asking us to give HIM info on the new stuff made.

I'm down for a "New and Hot product" section, and I'm sure Ben is also.

EDIT: it seem that he did AFTER the original post. my apologies, my comment can be deleted if you like. i did read it wrong.

Dude, he's not asking you personally for anything. He's not some noob who just joined, asking where he can buy a sweet turbo kit for $100, and use his stock injectors.

^See that? That mean he deserves a little respect.

Let's change focus from this being one guy with a question, and use it as a jumping off point to think about the bigger picture.

I usually respect everyone until they want to be spoon fed which is what I though he wanted off the first post and first post only. I originally ignored it because of that. honestly Chris, i dont see that being a GOOD reason to respect someone, just because they been here a couple of year and made a few post don't mean they know what they are talking about or support the forum/community. Another member and I got into it because he posted pictures of a b15 coilovers and said it was for a B14 then mention that he's been on here since the mailing list like he's better and know more than me because of that. I don't know everything and have no problems saying that, but I don't act all high and mighty just because I've been here for a while.

edit: feel free to start another thread about "how we need to treat our member" I dont want to clutter this guys thread anymore.

It will have to exist in the classifieds (which is apparently too much effort to visit already), and it will have to be maintained by someone which puts more load on someone. I nominate Topdog for the task.

It is its own post so people can bookmark it and go straight to it if they'd like. What do you think a dedicated section would look like, if not a wall of text itself?

I think this exact thread was probably the best idea. Draw on the experience and knowledge of the forum to post new products in an organized way. I have no problem with this thread, and made suggestions of my own. When the OP decided even an ounce of effort on his part was too much, I got angry at his attitude. His reason for the thread, not the thread itself. That's my own problem, and I seem to have derailed the thread. I'm sorry for that.
Every so often a thread like this could be created to get the word out. General SR20 is probably the best place for it too.

So, carry on?

Here's what the section looks like on Miata.net, it's just like any other forum section, except the threads are locked once they're created. We could discuss where it would be best to create the section (either in Announcements, or at the top of the Classified, or Vendor section), and how it would be administered, (the vendor could send the announcement to the staff for posting, or we could give the vendors exclusive rights to post in that section). Either way I think it's worthy of consideration.
