Thread: changed rear struts now have chatter noise.

I'm experiencing the same thing just haven't had time to disassemble yet. I always tighten with an impact, using short 'blips'...and you can tell when it is fully tight because the sound changes.

@b14 mexicutioner Did you replace with new struts?

I've had to use washers as spacers on some of my installs. It depends on the shock and springs used.

Havent had time to remove them but thay are tokico blues and stock springs. Probably foing to remove them sunday.

Every nissan I've ever lowered made some kinda of noise from the back.

Updates?

I lowered my B13 with KYB AGX and Road Magnets. I have no noise. I make my own top hat gaskets using Fel-Pro 1/8 thick cork rubber for the rears. I also replace the factory rubber rings that slip over the rear tophats.

It goes with out saying I use a torque wrench and tighten everything to specs with the car on the ground and fully loaded.

Ok so I took everything apart I think its the springs clanking, the rubber from the bottom is shot. On another note I cross threaded the top nuts on both shocks from over tightening them. Only like a 1/4 inch from the bottom is cross threaded, is it possible to clean the threads with a thread chaser/ die set ?

I forgot to mention, I use 15 inches of 1/2 inch heater hose on each end of the springs instead of the factory rubber perches. (10 feet of heater hose for 4 springs) I don't see any reason you couldn't use a die to clean up the threads.

Cool im going to use that idea for the heater hose on the perches. Sounds like what im going to do on the weekend.
