Twin loop muffler
I was thinking of trying out one of these.I need to redo my B13 exhaust. Its 2.5 now but going 3".cars a NA VVL

Just wondering if it will be a quieter option than Vibrant while still retaining free flow.
Anybody have any input or experience with these.?

C'mon @eggman, just look at the design. Then, ask yourself if that looks free flowing.

Twin loops are a goofy design, half of the piping is exactly just that. There is no sound deadening anything going on.

I took into account my desire for a quieter system while trying to maintain ability to flow. The turbo mufflers can re-direct air inside the muffler itself but nothing is a straight through shot like the typical perforated cores.

If you really want it quiet, get a louvered core resonator and install it with the louvers facing towards the front of the car (just like OEM application does). It WILL harm air flow but it WILL quiet it significantly.

I still want to try the perforated longest resonator I can find, run with a cat (as always, use a CAT, please) and try one of those turbo muffler options I have detailed.

Get it. I've been running with the OBX Twin Loop for 5 years. It's quiet, so much so that I was able to get rid of the cat and resonator. It sounds good at wot and you won't lose any hp over the Vibrant.

Now the negatives....It's FUGLY, bulky, and heavy.

It's very typical of this forum, where people with no firsthand experience spread misinformation. If you never tried it, used it, work on it, then shut the hell up.

I have used twin loop on friends cars before (eBay brand or some other garbage brand) and all of them have been an annoying can of bees. That being said, I can say I have first-hand experience on some twin loop mufflers. Perhaps the brand I used was not as good as "OBX" quality is. Perhaps maybe that was my "first-hand experience" telling me to never buy anything from OBX, EVER. ....... So the above was the typical response from a forum user commenting about things they have no idea what other folks may or may not have done.

Working on them is a pita because of the stupid fucking sizes the manufacturers have to make them. Much easier working with the typical "muffler can" than the twin loops. Luckily, down in CA and FL, you guys don't need to worry about things I need to worry about so twin loops may be a better option for you guys if you can find one that doesn't sound like a can of shit.

Maybe we can get a list of good brands and bad ones. Sadly, I do not recollect the brands I used and worked on because I did not buy the parts myself.

P.S. Please do not delete the cat. Bad for the earth.

i had one of these on my NX. Sadly it came with it. It was quiet and sounded good with a DE with a unknown brand resonator.

When people got under the car and looked at it they always had a good laugh too
