Thread: Paint question

I have a quart of Cloud White that i've had for about 4-5 years. It was used to spray my bumper, and my painter gave me what was left. My question is the paint still good? It was re-sealed by him and stored in a drawer in my desk. Any help is appreciated.

Paint does have a shelf life. If it is still a nice liquid and no chunks you can use it. If it has any chunks in it i would not get it near my paint gun. If it has no chunks and is a little thick you can use a little thinner to get it back.

I wouldn't touch anything older thyan a year or so. The binders begin to break down making the paint a lot less durable. Paint is cheap enough to buy another QT. You might spend $50 on it, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Hell of a lot better than respraying it again in a month, or it not working properly from the get go. Stripping a plastic bumper is not fun.
