Messed up my crank pulley
I put my motor back together recently, and it ran fine, but had an oil leak. This morning I decided to look into it and found this. Somehow the keyway for the crank messed up and as I impacted it on, it messed up the pulley, and new front seal. Not really sure how it happened, but it's time for a new seal and pulley.

The key is rounded on the crank side. When you tightened the pulley the key was not seated correctly and ended up pushing through the pulley.

Yeah I know WHAT happened, I just don't see HOW lol. I don't remember doing that part specifically, maybe something was distracting me.

The key must have been caught on the edge of the keyway in the crank and not seated into the keyway, but like you said, I have a hard time imagining how it could line up like that

The key was not seating flush with the crank when you tighten down the crank pulley. The key can sometime move up a down on the crank keyway.

You should be able to slide the pulley on and not need to push it on with the bolt. Use a rubber mallet to knock it over the key. There could have been some dirt in the keyway causing it not to seat correctly.
