Thread: Camshafts might be grinding...

Every time I start up the b14 I'm getting a grinding noise from the valve cover area. Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this or have a clue what it is?

It's (literally) a 5 min job to check and it will probably take you longer waiting for replies

It's probably the tensioner.

I did and it did look like anything was grinding. It just recently started happening.

Tensioner could be the issue, also check the distributor I have seen broken pieces of metal get trapped under the cam cap/dist.

Could be chain slap on the upper chain guide
