All sr20's come with the squirters on the rod.
With piston oil squirters

I have heard this also, Autech DE's are killer DE engines with all the stuff they worked on those engines. From what I gather, this is USDM SR20DE with oil squirters, the only one in existence is down in South Carolina.

The only difference in an Autech engine to a normal highport SR20 is the cams and pistons with a taller crown to increase the compression.

They have no oil squirters, special valves, special valve springs, or head work.

The UK spec from the premera gt. Has special valves

What I'm getting from this thread is in posts # 71, #57 and #36. It seem to boil down to this:

Nissan put these oil holes in the rods for an significant reason. When you rebuild an engine make sure the rods and bearings are lined up correctly and that the oil holes are not blocked. If you're installing aftermarket rods, spend the extra money and makes sure they have the factory type oil holes.

It looks like that even with blocks that have oil squiters, if you don't allow the oil holes in the rods to function as designed you'll be sorry later.

That's just my take on it. I'm glad this came up or I would never have guessed and it's pretty important stuff.

Indeed. Good summary. Thanks to @BenFenner for bringing this topic up.

I would run manley h-beams with the oil squirters in the block and not worry about it one bit.

Yah, I can't say I took away the same things NI SER-1 did. I agree with everything except the need for the rod squirters if you have dedicated squirters in the block. If you have the upgraded squirters on the block, the integrated squirters in the rod don't add any benefit.

Agreed. And I think what people are forgetting is the immense speed at which then pistons are moving. With the dedicated squirters only, there is going to be oil thrown everywhere. I really don't think it makes a bit of difference just as long as you have one or the other.

It seems there's a lot of mixed reviews on whether or not to use oil pistons squirters...I'm building kind of a Frankenstein motor for boost w/ VE head, oil pump on a DE block (free)
before ppl start suggesting VE block. Should I have the block machined to accept the piston squirters? (have them on hand)

What have you heard that would make you decide not to use the dedicated piston oil squirters on the block? Do people say they spray too much oil in the air and cause too much of an oil cloud in the block? That's the only downside I can think of, which a crank scraper should help with.

Either way, for boost I would definitely do them if I had the chance, even without a crank scraper.
