^ It is true. Very Very Loud. My car on full exhaust, with a 23" resonator and a cat (!) was still loud enough to get kicked off AMP when the revs reached north of 9k.

eggman,

i love a short video of your exhaust. i have the same rear muffler and similar resonator's ready to go on my car shortly.

often gone back to chris tuners "old man exhaust" on youtube and thought it was pretty good. he has loaded up with resonators in the middle section. this seems like the best way to remove drone and alot of noise.

98 dB is not that high of a limit. Just the rules of that track that hampered that day.

But VVL is loud. Big-ass ports means big-ass noise. Or suck it up, do what JDM cat-backs do and use the louvered core resonators and just eat the backpressure difference. It's all about compromise if you want noise reductions, flow has to go with it. I have not heard a quiet VVL car using perforated core exhausts.

+1. My all NA VE w/ all the breather mods and 3" straight thru Magnaflow, no cat, was so loud that my brother literally made me turn around and take him home because he said it was going to damage his ears. big baby

I've had great experience with MagnaFlow straight through mufflers, but only on turbo cars. Was going to try it on my VE for my first NA application , lol

Lol. Well my '92 SE-R w/ the SR20VE was all NA, had N1 cams/supertech spring, CAI, 4-1 header, UR pulleys, port/polished head, 3" catback to the magnaflow etc. To say it was LOUD (especially in VVL territory) would be an understatement. I had neighbors complain to me at least 4 times. I was just trying to get up my driveway in some snow and they came over and bitched. they claimed their kids were scared. another said it sounded like Gran Turismo. lol oh well. it was the loudest car I've ever been in, let alone ever owned.

Did you have a catalytic converter? I was thinking of running a 2.5" with cat, resonator and muffler, but all straight through. I'll have to see if I can find a similar setup on a video clip first though , ha ha
