WTF Causes this?
So... I thought my motor was bad, so I bought another off ebay... Its bad too. I have two shitty motors that I am going to try to make one good one from. Here is what the JE Pistons that came out of motor 1 looked like...

What causes this?

Also they where not clearances right and guillotined the oil squirters...

Oil starvation, too long between oil changes and/or using dyno oil, overheating, driving with low oil pressure, any or all of those

Perhaps w/ crap oil and extreme heat.. it has to be something with friction/temperatures and the oil or lack of.. air fuel and spark --> heat --> friction --> oil to reduce -->crap oil or lack of oil --> damage over time

Cool, thanks for the info. Ill be posting pics of the rebuild. Hopefully the pistons from the other motor, although scuffed, can be salvaged and thrown into this one.

What does the top of the piston look like? Detonation perhaps? Were you using pump gas? E85?

Too lean or pre-ignition from those poor quality photos is all I can tell, really. Need better pictures.

As for the sheared off oil squirters...the piston skirts probably did not have the provisions made for them. (?)
