rear axle beam?
Anyone knows the weight of one? What would you do if your beam needed to be replaced? Sell , replace, part out car?

I can weigh mine when I get it back from blating and coating, I would guess around 50-60lbs. Why would it need to be replaced? You can get all the bushings and bearings/hubs. The only reason I can see to really replace it is if you are going from drum brakes to disk brakes. Or you hit a tree stump pretty hard at which point the rear axle may be the least of your worries...

I would imagine the B15 beam to be a tad heavier.

The B15 does seem a bit beefier. I still have a spare B14 beam on the side of my house lol. The beams are nearly identical and are interchangeable. But the bolt pattern on the B14 beams is 4x100 instead of the 4x114.

Do you know if the hubs are the same? I am doing the RS6 swap and if they are the same Ill just throw them on the B14 beam axles.

Its my understanding that the beam in back of a b15 and back of a p11 are the same.. don't know if it his accurate nor do I remember who told me this info.. I have a spare p11 one (not a b15 one) ..but its a 'local folks' availability thing if anyone is in need.

Not sure if the hubs are the same. I swapped entire axle beams over. I had a junk yard deliver the axle beam to AutoZone and then I picked it up in a truck. lol.

It I my understanding the B15 beam also has the advantage of the more neutral toe position. It's half way between a b14 toe numbers and having the B14 rear beam bent to zero toe. This allows for more neutral handling like the independent suspension cars.
