Thread: Need help!!! 93 NX2000 sr20de

i just got a 93 nissan nx2000 from my girl freind and im replacing the water pump this weekend ive been having issues with her and beleive the radiator is bad as well but need to have her at least running so i can get back and forth but dont want to damage her anymore than what she already maybe got a lil over 215k miles on her but still ran good until the recent cooling problems my main questions for now are what i need to do to change the the water pump like what all needs to be removed to make it accesible and what other things to look for when changing the water pump to know if i need to replace other cooling parts as well and maybe where to find a good manual or how to... and ill prolly end up grabing a new radiator and hoses as well until i can put the time into upgrading her but i really just want to make sure shes takin care of properly so i can keep her around for awhile

The water pump is very annoying to do with the engine in the car, which is why most of us change the pump any time the engine is out and we are unsure of the mileage on the pump or know it is nearing 100k.

You'll need to remove the passenger's side engine mount for sure. Support the engine with a jack (take care not to bend the oil pan!) and maybe even remove the cross-member so you can jack the engine up and down to access all of the bolts. Remove anything that might be in the way, possibly the alternator. You should be able to keep the crank pulley on there and the power steering pump.

Remove engine mounts and drop the engine and raise the engine as needed. Don't use the supplied paper gasket (if you get one). Use Grey RTV as usual.

With ratcheting box wrenches, it is a fairly easy job to do in the car. The right tools make the job much easier.

Might as well replace the belts while you're there and have made room! You also mentioned replacing the radiator hoses...what about the thermostat? The stat woulda been the first place I woulda started w/a cooling issue. What exactly was it doing...just decided to overheat one day? Is the water pump leaking out of the weep hole or making noise? Need moar info please.

It was rough but mainly because I came home after work to find some cat lookin like he stepped off the set of deliverance elbow deep in my car and sing that he don't have the engine mount out or on even on Jack stands for that matter and have to back Track over everything he had done because he was half assing shit just trying to get paid cuz my girl wanted to surprise me ugh .....
