The Oil Leak Thread
Starting this thread because I have been chasing an oil leak for over a year on my NX and I think I finally may have found it.
Show us your oil leaks from past and present...and what you did to find them and fix them.
Over the years, I have had the oring on the distributer leak,and the valve cover leak,and the rear and front main leaks....I have had the oil pressure sensor leaks....and we have all had the Powersteering leaks from EVERYWHERE.
I have had axleseals leaking,coolant hoses on the back of the block,etc,etc,etc.
But this one is new.I have been trying to see where this oil is leaking from with no luck up until now...
I basically got the car up in the air and cleaned all the oil; off with brake cleaner and let it dry.
The started the car and crawled under it to see whats up.
I looks like I have a leak at the oil filter mount-to -block location. Theres 2 meteal washer/o-ring type seals in there. Apparently mine are no good. I did remove the bracket tonight and found one oring damaged enough to possibly cause the leak.
So off to the dealer tomorrow AM to try to score a couple seals.
I will post my findings.
This freaking oil leak has been driving me nuts since I daily drive the car. If this fixes it ,I will be soooo happy. Its the only thing left on the NX that needs attention mechanically at this point to be perfect.
I had been suspicious of the upper pan ,,so I am glad I looked a little harder before tackling the shitty job of resealing the upper pan with the engine in the car.
