Hey Eggman, it's been a while....
I have been running an E rack in my E ever since I bought it in 1995. I think it would be fine for a drag car, but the steering is sooo slow! I think it sucks for autocross because of how slow it is. It is a big adjustment going from my MR2 spyder to my Sentra, super quick to super slow! I understand what you are saying about the weight and simplicity for a track car, but think about this, I run the power steering in my race car. I ran with it unhooked for a couple of seasons, but hooked it back up just to reduce the physical effort required to race the car. Racing is pretty physical as it is, so anything to help....you get the point.
So there is my input into the matter.
Now if only I can find the thread about reolcating the alternator to the power steering pump position.....
